1. Who We Are
SaskatoonChoice ("we", "us", or "our") is a free social game platform operated from 1247 Broadway Avenue, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1L4, Canada. Our platform offers browser-based entertainment games, including the COLUMN BOOST social game, with no real-money playing, no prizes, and no withdrawals of any kind. This Privacy Policy explains our practices in relation to personal information we may collect when you visit inkstandcove.com (the "Site").
This policy is written in plain language and covers all visitors and users of the Site. If you have any questions about how we handle your data, please write to us at [email protected].
2. What Information We Collect
Because SaskatoonChoice is a free social game platform with no account registration, we collect only minimal, non-identifying technical data. Specifically, we may collect or record:
- Usage analytics: Pages visited, time on page, click paths, device viewport size, and general game interaction events (play counts, feature triggers). These are aggregated and anonymised before analysis.
- Cookies and localStorage: Small data items stored in your browser to remember your age-confirmation status (
jg_age_ok) and your cookie-consent choice (jg_consent_v2). Full details in our Cookie Policy. - Device and browser information: Browser type and version, operating system, screen resolution, and preferred language. This is collected automatically by our web server logs and analytics service.
- IP address: Your internet protocol address is recorded in standard server access logs for security and fraud-prevention purposes. We do not link IP addresses to individuals, and they are purged from logs on a rolling 12-month cycle.
- Referral source: The URL from which you arrived at our Site (e.g., a search engine result or external link). This helps us understand how players discover the platform.
3. What We Do NOT Collect
SaskatoonChoice is committed to collecting the minimum data necessary. We explicitly do not collect, store, or process:
- Your real name, email address, or any government-issued identifier.
- Financial data of any kind — no payment card numbers, bank account details, e-wallet credentials, or transaction records. Our platform has no payment functionality whatsoever.
- Health or biometric data.
- Precise geolocation data (GPS coordinates). We may infer your approximate country or province from your IP address for regulatory compliance checks only.
- Your social media profiles or third-party account credentials.
- Any data relating to real-money play activity — we are not a gambling operator and do not interact with licensed gambling networks.
4. How We Use Your Information
The limited data we do collect is used solely for the following purposes:
- Platform operation: Ensuring game features load correctly, troubleshooting technical errors, and maintaining uptime.
- Security: Detecting and preventing automated abuse (bots, scraping), denial-of-service attempts, and other malicious activity.
- Analytics: Understanding how players interact with the COLUMN BOOST game, which features are popular, and where the user journey can be improved. This analysis is conducted on aggregated, anonymised data.
- Age gate enforcement: Storing your age-confirmation flag locally so you are not asked repeatedly during the same visit or on subsequent visits within the 180-day consent window.
- Legal compliance: Retaining minimal records as required by Canadian federal law and Saskatchewan provincial law to demonstrate responsible operation of the platform.
We do not use your data to build advertising profiles, sell it to data brokers, or share it with third parties for their own marketing purposes.
5. Third-Party Processors
We engage the following carefully selected third-party service providers who may process limited data on our behalf:
- Google Analytics (Google LLC): We use Google Analytics 4 to generate aggregated usage reports. When you accept analytics cookies, anonymised event data (page views, game events, session duration) is transmitted to Google servers. Google Analytics is configured with IP anonymisation enabled. We do not use Google Ads, remarketing, or any advertising-related Google product. You may opt out of Google Analytics tracking at any time via tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.
- Web hosting provider: Our hosting infrastructure is located in data centres in North America (see §10). The hosting provider processes server logs that may contain IP addresses, but has no access to application-level data.
We do not engage advertising networks, affiliate tracking platforms, or data-sharing intermediaries. No personal information is sold to any third party under any circumstances.
6. Data Retention
We retain data for the shortest period needed for its stated purpose:
- Server access logs (IP addresses, request timestamps): Retained for a rolling 12-month period, then automatically purged.
- Browser-side consent tokens (
jg_age_ok,jg_consent_v2): Expire automatically after 180 days from the date set. No server-side copy is stored. - Google Analytics data: Aggregated event data is retained in Google Analytics for 14 months per our account configuration, after which it is deleted automatically. Raw user-level signals (session IDs) are not retained by us.
- Support enquiries sent by email: Retained for up to 24 months for quality and record-keeping purposes, then permanently deleted.
7. Your Rights Under Canadian Privacy Law
SaskatoonChoice respects and supports the privacy rights of Canadians under the following legal frameworks:
- PIPEDA (Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act): Federal law governing how private-sector organisations collect, use, and disclose personal information in the course of commercial activity.
- Law 25 (Loi 25 — Québec's Act to modernise legislative provisions as regards the protection of personal information): Applicable to Quebec residents. We extend the enhanced rights under Law 25 to all Canadian users as best practice.
- GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation): While we are a Canadian platform, some users may access the Site from the European Union. We apply GDPR-equivalent standards to all users regardless of location.
Under these frameworks, you have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of any personal information we hold about you. In practice, because we do not maintain user accounts or link analytics to identities, we hold very little identifiable data about individual users.
- Correction: Request that any inaccurate personal information be corrected.
- Erasure ("right to be forgotten"): Request that we delete any personal information we hold that is no longer necessary for its original purpose.
- Withdrawal of consent: Withdraw consent to analytics cookies at any time by clearing your browser cookies and declining the cookie banner on your next visit.
- Portability: Request your data in a structured, machine-readable format where technically feasible.
- Complaint: Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada at priv.gc.ca or with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec if you are a Quebec resident.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days of receiving a verifiable request.
8. Security
We take the security of your information seriously, even given the minimal data we hold. Our security measures include:
- HTTPS everywhere: All data transmitted between your browser and our server is encrypted using TLS 1.2 or higher. We do not serve any content over unencrypted HTTP.
- No sensitive storage: Because we do not collect financial, health, or identity data, there is no sensitive personal information to protect at rest. Browser-side tokens (cookies, localStorage) contain only non-personal confirmation flags.
- Server hardening: Our hosting environment applies regular security patches, firewall rules, and access controls. Direct database access is restricted to authorised personnel only.
- No third-party trackers: Beyond Google Analytics (analytics only, no advertising), we do not embed third-party tracking pixels, social media widgets, or advertising SDKs that could expose your data to additional parties.
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. In the event of a data breach that creates a real risk of significant harm to individuals, we will notify affected users and the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada as required by PIPEDA's mandatory breach reporting rules.
9. Children and Minors
SaskatoonChoice is strictly for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect any information from individuals under 18. If you believe a minor has provided information through our Site, please contact us immediately at [email protected] and we will promptly investigate and delete any such data. Our age-gate mechanism requires users to affirm they are 18+ before accessing game content.
10. International Transfers
Our primary web servers are located in data centres within North America (Canada and/or the United States). If you access the Site from outside Canada, your data may be transferred to and processed in these countries. Canadian privacy law permits such transfers where appropriate safeguards are in place. By using the Site, you acknowledge and consent to this transfer.
Where Google Analytics processes data on our behalf, Google may transfer aggregated analytics data to servers in the United States. Google's processing is governed by Standard Contractual Clauses approved under applicable data protection law.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, display a notice on the Site's homepage for a period of 14 days. Your continued use of the Site after the effective date of a revised policy constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
